As Dr. King once said, "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." The time where injustice, hate, isolation, bigotry and a broken world may be the reality we see now. Yet the morning will come.
The summer of 2016 had been a heart wrenching with all the tension and violence done to African-Americans in this country. In Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Every human rights movement occurred through the African-American community there was a creative movement also followed suit. This piece speaks to the pain. However, we must remember that there is joy that overcomes the weep. The use of acrylic was a challenge and yet at the same time a joy to work with. The patiences and thoughtfulness of painting has been alluring to me.
